Alexandra Wright is a wife, mother, farmer, and small business owner, dedicated to bringing her diverse experiences and perspectives to the Conservative Party of BC as a candidate for Kelowna-Mission. Born and raised in Alberta, she obtained her Juris Doctor degree from UCLA School of Law, where she excelled as the Managing Editor of the UCLA Law Review.

Professional Journey

After practicing law in Los Angeles, Alexandra returned to her hometown of Calgary, kickstarting her career in the energy sector. She worked in the land and legal departments for several years before co-founding a successful end-to-end supply chain company with her husband John in 2013. This company serves energy producers and service providers across Canada and internationally.

Farm Life and Entrepreneurship

A decade ago, Alexandra and her family moved to Kelowna to realize their dream of owning and operating a family farm. For several years, they sold organically grown, non-GMO produce at their farm gate and the Kelowna Farmers' Market. As a business owner and farmer, Alexandra is acutely aware of the challenges and red tape that small businesses face. She advocates for the removal of harmful and onerous legislation affecting the economy, food security, and farm succession planning in British Columbia.

Commitment to Family Values

As a mother, Alexandra understands the issues facing today's youth and supports the Conservative Party's platform in backing parents' educational choices, removing ideology from the classroom, and protecting free speech. As a healthcare patient who sought treatment abroad due to delays and limited options in Canada, Alexandra advocates for changes that enhance healthcare accessibility and introduce more collaborative and innovative medical options.

Local Political Engagement

Alexandra actively engages in local politics and successfully spearheaded a campaign in 2023 opposing the City of Kelowna's attempted industrial rezoning of a golf course on environmentally sensitive lands. Concerned about the power of local governments to silence citizens, she believes in empowering people to shape their future through transparent and participatory governance.

Passion for Legislation and Policy

Alexandra's interest in legislation and policy dates back to law school, where she was involved in social justice projects advising on legislative interpretation and intent. She plans to leverage this experience, along with her contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and strategic advisory skills, to advocate for her constituents.

Beyond Work

Outside of her professional commitments, Alexandra enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and furry companions on their Kelowna farm. She actively participates in the local equestrian community, fostering connections with these sensitive and intelligent animals.

“I am really excited to be part of a grassroots movement to bring common sense back to BC.  It is heartening to feel the optimism and enthusiasm surrounding the BC Conservative Party and this electoral campaign, and to be able to offer a real choice to voters in this year’s election.  I encourage you all to educate yourself on the issues and become involved in our campaign.  As Plato once said, ‘One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.’” - Alexandra Wright, Conservative MLA Candidate, Kelowna-Mission
