It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic and sudden loss of former Conservative Party of British Columbia President — a mentor, volunteer and friend — Darryl Seres.

Darryl was the Conservative candidate for Boundary-Similkameen, one of our most significant Party Presidents, a committed volunteer — and a warm, generous friend to all. Since learning of Darryl’s passing, our entire Conservative Party of British Columbia family has been in mourning.

Tragically, a sudden automobile collision claimed Darryl’s life; all other individuals involved in this horrific accident are on the road to recovery. True to form, Darryl was on his way to a Conservative Party of British Columbia Riding Association meeting when this collision occurred.

Conservative Party of British Columbia Leader, John Rustad has provided the following quote for this statement: “Darryl was among the first to welcome me into the Conservative Party of British Columbia. His positivity was infectious, and he saw the very best in people — Darryl truly believed in British Columbians’ potential and his passion for our politics was unmatched. He was a wonderful man and he will be dearly missed.”

In the final months of 2023, Darryl wrote a moving Op-Ed for our monthly newsletter. This piece, Darryl’s final reflection on our party’s unique journey and success, will be published on our website.

The Conservative Party of British Columbia is proud to memorialize Darryl by creating the Darryl Seres Award – an annual award which will be presented to The Conservative Party of British Columbia’s most dedicated volunteers. We hope that recipients will cherish it, and that our work for a better BC will honour his memory.

On behalf of the whole Conservative Party of British Columbia team, we extend our deepest condolences to Darryl’s family and loved ones. We hope that Darryl’s passion and positivity can live on in each of us — and in 2024 we’re going to be proud to #DoItForDarryl.

Warmly — and with heavy hearts,
