Background and Professional Trajectory
Dharam Kajal originates from a humble familial background in Punjab, India. He achieved his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and pursued further studies, culminating in a Master's degree in Structural Engineering from Punjab University, Chandigarh, India. Following his academic pursuits, Dharam Kajal embarked on a distinguished professional journey, accumulating invaluable experience with prestigious institutions such as the Post Graduate Institute, Chandigarh, India and the Indian Engineering Services (IES) at Government of India, Dayton & Knight Ltd. and Fluor Canada Ltd. Presently, Dharam is working as CEO at Westridge Engineering & Consulting Ltd. based at Surrey, BC.
Establishing a Foothold in Canada and Entrepreneurial Endeavors
Approximately four decades ago, Dharam immigrated to Canada, marking the initiation of his professional voyage in the country. Over the years, he has lent his expertise to various organizations across diverse geographical locations, spanning Peru, the USA, Mongolia, the Dominican Republic, and multiple provinces Newfoundland and Labrador, within Canada. Drawing upon his wealth of experience, technical proficiency, and business acumen, Dharam ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his own civil engineering consulting firm specializing in serving the Lower Mainland area. His company has cultivated strong partnerships with municipal bodies throughout the region, fostering collaborative relationships with key city officials to deliver bespoke solutions and services of the highest caliber.
Active Engagement in Community Affairs
For over three decades, Dharam has been an active and engaged member of his community. He consistently advocates for community issues and endeavors to resolve them through professional avenues. Notably, Dharam has served at various capacities as a trustee, spokesperson, and election committee member at one of the temples in Lower Mainland area and facilitated the building permit process. In addition to his contributions in civil engineering design the field of land development, municipal infrastructure, and water & wastewater, he provides invaluable technical guidance. Furthermore, Dharam remains actively involved in various professional associations, including the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), SPEATBC, PEG Newfoundland and Labrador (previously), among others. His dedication to community welfare and professional advancement underscores his commitment to serving others and effecting positive change.
