Real Results, Real Leadership: Conservatives Deliver as NDP Stalls
Victoria, BC – While the NDP brought forward a thin legislative agenda this session, our Conservative MLAs delivered real wins for British Columbians — not just through legislation, but through consistent advocacy, public pressure, and principled opposition. “As the spring session comes to a close, I want to thank our team for a season of hard work and meaningful results,” added John Rustad, MLA for Nechako Lakes and Leader of the Conservative Party of BC.
From repealing the carbon tax and ending unwitnessed safe supply, to securing critical services for children like Charleigh Pollock and calling out government failure in tragedies like the death of Chantelle Williams, our team has made a tangible impact.
While the NDP struggles to manage public backlash over Bills 7, 14, and 15, our Conservative MLAs were advancing practical solutions. Conservatives tabled 11 private members’ bills focused on affordability, mental health, emergency response, public safety, and interprovincial trade. Several of these initiatives were adopted or copied by government — including the Perinatal and Postnatal Mental Health Strategy Act and the Mental Health Amendment Act.
“British Columbians are tired of lofty promises and negligible results,” said Rustad. “This session, it wasn’t the government that delivered — it was our Conservative MLAs, standing up with common-sense solutions that made a difference in people’s lives.”
When the NDP failed to act, we led. We brought families into the Legislature, fought for local infrastructure, and forced the government to reverse course on dangerous policies and partisan appointments. Michael Bryant is gone. Angel Flights funding is restored. The Atlantic Power deal is back on the table.
“From the carbon tax repeal to real wins on mental health and affordability, we proved that even from opposition, we can deliver results,” Rustad added. “That’s the kind of leadership British Columbians deserve — and that’s the kind of leadership we are committed to providing.”
British Columbians deserve a government that listens and acts. This session, that leadership came from Conservative MLAs. We proved that even from across the aisle, we can force better outcomes — for families, for safety, for affordability, and for the future of this province.
