About Lawrence Mok

About Lawrence:

Dr. Lawrence Mok, together with his wife and two young children, moved to Canada from Singapore in 1988. He and his family have lived in Maple Ridge for over 30 years, where he enjoys the outdoor life, including the Golden Ears Mountains, glacier lakes, and beautiful rivers. In his spare time, Lawrence likes to go for walks on the river dykes, go cycling, visit friends, or relax with a good book.

Education and Memberships:

Lawrence attended universities in both Canada and America, earning nine degrees, including a Bachelor of Applied Science & Technology, Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Master of Business Administration, Master of Arts in Religion, Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, Doctor of Religious Studies, Doctor of Business Administration, and Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration.

He is a Life Member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (USA), a Fellow Member of The Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK), a Fellow Member of The Chartered Management Institute (UK), and an Associate Member of the Evangelical Theological Society (USA). Additionally, Lawrence is a Registered Applied Science Technologist (British Columbia, Canada), a Registered Incorporated Engineer (UK), and a Chartered Manager (UK).

Professional Experience:

Lawrence has over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing, installation, sales, and services of overhead cranes, crane components, and hoists in British Columbia, serving industries such as manufacturing, steel production, sawmills, lumber mills, steel and stone & marble warehouses, construction, mining, oil & gas, recycling, and water and waste treatment plants. He also conducts overhead crane operator safety training seminars. Lawrence has also taught business management courses as a guest lecturer at universities in Canada, China, and North Africa, and he preaches part-time at several local churches.

Community Involvement:

Lawrence has been an active volunteer at the Maple Ridge Salvation Army Church, serving in various capacities over the years. His dedication to community service reflects his commitment to addressing local issues and improving the quality of life for all residents.

Political Vision:

When Lawrence first moved to Maple Ridge 35 years ago, it was a quiet town. Over the past two decades, Maple Ridge and Mission have grown rapidly, bringing challenges such as homelessness, poverty, drugs, long wait times at hospital emergency departments, rising crime rates, and a lack of recreational facilities and employment opportunities.

As a longtime resident of Maple Ridge, Lawrence understands the needs and aspirations of Maple Ridge and Mission residents.

In addition, Lawrence supports the Conservative Party of BC’s common-sense approach to scrapping the carbon tax, building pipelines, lowering taxes, balancing the budget, cracking down on violent crime, and reducing wait times for medical treatment. Lawrence Mok is ready to leverage his extensive experience and skills to serve the residents of Maple Ridge East effectively.
