John Rustad Thanks Jagmeet Singh for Supporting Plan to Axe the Carbon Tax, Slams Trudeau and Eby as Out-of-Touch Ideological Bedfellows

“The carbon tax is an economic disaster and an environmental failure. It’s a tax that drives up costs on everything from groceries to gas, hitting families and businesses hard while doing absolutely nothing to lower emissions. David Eby and Justin Trudeau are so blinded by their ideology that they refuse to see the damage they’re causing.” - John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia

September 12th, Vancouver, BC: John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, today thanked Jagmeet Singh for backing the Conservatives’ plan to eliminate the carbon tax, while ripping into Justin Trudeau and David Eby as the last defenders of a failed policy. Rustad accused the carbon tax of being nothing more than a cash grab that punishes regular people while doing nothing to protect the environment.

“The carbon tax is an economic disaster and an environmental failure,” said Rustad. “It’s a tax that drives up costs on everything from groceries to gas, hitting families and businesses hard while doing absolutely nothing to lower emissions. David Eby and Justin Trudeau are so blinded by their ideology that they refuse to see the damage they’re causing.”

Rustad pointed to British Columbians who are struggling with the rising cost of living, arguing that the carbon tax disproportionately impacts those who can least afford it, especially in rural areas with no public transit alternatives. “This tax isn’t about saving the planet; it’s about squeezing every last dollar from hard-working British Columbians,” Rustad added.

Rustad also called on David Eby to support Jagmeet Singh’s stance and abandon his stubborn defense of the tax. “It’s time for David Eby to put British Columbians first, follow Singh’s lead, and join the BC Conservatives in axing this harmful and ineffective tax. Who does David Eby care about more? Hardworking British Columbians, or his best buddy in Ottawa?”
