John Rustad Denounces Celebrations of Terrorist Acts, Calls for Strong Action Against Those Glorifying Genocidal Groups
“It is horrifying and unacceptable to see people on the streets of British Columbia and across Canada celebrating the massacre of Jews and glorifying terrorist organizations like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the IRGC. Those who do so should face serious consequences, including the immediate revocation of their visas if they are not Canadian citizens. Canada cannot tolerate this kind of hatred and violence in our society.” — John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia
October 7th, Vancouver, BC: John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, today issued a strong statement commemorating October 7th, and denouncing the open glorification of genocidal terrorist groups in British Columbian cities and across Canada. Rustad emphasized that these displays of hatred, particularly the celebration of violence and terror against Jews, must be confronted head-on, with immediate action taken against those who support such atrocities.
“We are witnessing an alarming rise in public support for violent, genocidal organizations like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the IRGC,” said Rustad. “It is deeply disturbing that people are celebrating the massacre of Jews and promoting violence on Canadian soil. This is not free speech; it is incitement to violence, and it cannot be tolerated.”
Holding Violent Extremists Accountable
Rustad condemned those who have taken to the streets to glorify groups responsible for horrific acts of terrorism, calling for strong and immediate action, especially for non-citizens who participate in such acts of hatred.
“Any individual who glorifies terrorist organizations or celebrates violence against innocent civilians should have no place in Canada,” Rustad stated. “For those who are not Canadian citizens, this should be grounds for immediate visa revocation and deportation. We must send a clear message: Canada will not be a haven for those who promote terrorism and hatred.”
Defending Canadian Values and Safety
Rustad reaffirmed his commitment to protecting Canadian values, emphasizing that terrorism and hatred have no place in a country built on tolerance, democracy, and respect for human rights.
“We are a nation that stands for peace, justice, and the rule of law,” Rustad said. “But when we see public displays of support for terrorism and the glorification of violence, we must act to protect the safety and integrity of our communities. We cannot allow hate-filled ideologies to fester and grow in British Columbia or anywhere in Canada.”
Immediate Action is Needed
Rustad called on both provincial and federal authorities to take swift action to crack down on individuals who openly support terrorist organizations and call for violence against minority communities, particularly Jews, in Canada.
“It’s time for immediate action. Any person who glorifies terrorism on our streets, whether through words or actions, must face legal consequences,” Rustad emphasized. “And for those who are not citizens, there must be no hesitation in revoking their visas and deporting them. British Columbians and all Canadians deserve to live in peace, free from the threat of terrorism and hatred.”
A Call for Unity
In closing, Rustad urged all Canadians to stand together against hatred, terrorism, and those who seek to divide communities with violence.
“Canada is a country built on unity and diversity, and we must not allow a vocal minority to undermine those values by spreading hatred and supporting violence,” Rustad said. “Let us stand strong, united, and committed to peace, safety, and the values that make our nation great.”
