John Rustad Claims Victory Following Federal Government’s Declaration of Samidoun as a Terrorist Entity, Slams David Eby for Silence and Weakness on Terrorism
“The federal government has finally recognized Samidoun for what it is: a terrorist organization. Meanwhile, David Eby’s silence on this group is deafening. His failure to condemn and act against terrorism in British Columbia is unacceptable and dangerous.” — John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia
October 15th, Vancouver, BC: Vancouver, BC: John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, claimed victory today following the federal government’s decision to officially declare Samidoun a terrorist organization. Rustad also took the opportunity to call out Premier David Eby for his continued silence on the group and his failure to address the growing presence of terrorist-linked organizations in British Columbia.
“Samidoun has been allowed to operate in British Columbia, and its leader, Charlotte Kates, has yet to face any criminal charges from the Attorney General or this government,” Rustad stated. “While the federal government is stepping up and declaring Samidoun a terrorist group, David Eby remains weak, apologetic, and silent in the face of terrorism.”
Eby’s Failure to Act on Terrorism in BC
Rustad lambasted Eby’s refusal to name or condemn Samidoun, accusing the Premier of being soft on terrorism and allowing radical organizations to fester and grow in the province under his leadership.
“David Eby’s refusal to even name Samidoun shows his blatant disregard for the safety of British Columbians,” Rustad said. “His government has failed to take the necessary steps to crack down on terrorist sympathizers in our province. We still have not seen any criminal charges pursued against Charlotte Kates, the leader of this terrorist group operating right here in British Columbia.”
Terrorism Has No Place in BC
Rustad underscored the Conservative Party of British Columbia’s commitment to ensuring that groups like Samidoun are not allowed to continue operating in the province, and that their leaders are held accountable for their actions.
“There is no place for terrorist organizations or those who sympathize with them in British Columbia,” Rustad continued. “David Eby’s failure to act is not just weak, it’s dangerous. The Conservative Party of BC will always stand firm against terrorism and ensure that those who spread hatred and violence are brought to justice.”
Victory for Public Safety
Rustad celebrated the federal government’s decision to declare Samidoun a terrorist organization as a victory for public safety in British Columbia and across Canada.
“This is a major win for the safety of all British Columbians,” Rustad said. “The federal government has shown leadership by taking this step, and it’s time for David Eby to follow suit. The people of BC deserve a government that takes terrorism seriously, and that’s exactly what they will get with the Conservative Party of BC.”
Rustad concluded by demanding immediate action from Eby’s government.
“David Eby must act now. His Attorney General needs to pursue criminal charges against Charlotte Kates as recommended by the VPD (Vancouver Police Department), and his government must take decisive steps to root out terrorist organizations like Samidoun from British Columbia once and for all,” Rustad said. “Anything less is a betrayal of public safety and a dangerous failure of leadership.”
