Rooted in Heritage
Jan Webb is a proud descendant of pioneers who arrived in the 1850s, with her family being the first to settle on the Saanich Peninsula and in the Highlands. Seven generations later, Jan remains deeply connected to southern Vancouver Island, taking a personal interest in the concerns and issues within her community.
Urban and Rural Understanding
Jan's early years in Esquimalt and graduation from Claremont Senior Secondary School were followed by a move to help her parents run a hunting and fishing lodge in central B.C. This experience fostered her respect for responsible farmers, ranchers, and First Nations. Jan is a staunch advocate for law-abiding firearms owners, championing their rights.
Passionate Nursing Career
With a BSC in Nursing (with distinction) from UVIC, Jan embarked on a decades-long nursing career, serving in both hospitals and the community. Her primary focus was on senior care, and she now seeks fresh changes in the medical system, advocating for evidence-based, individualized care with improved treatment access to alleviate suffering and provide more options instead of MAiD.
Respect for Military Families
As the daughter of a WW2 and D-Day veteran, Jan holds deep respect for the men and women in uniform. Given that Esquimalt and parts of Colwood are home to military families, Jan emphasizes the need for support and a strong voice for these communities.
Having served on the Board of Directors for the Federal Conservative Party in the Esquimalt/Saanich/Sooke Riding from 2009 to 2022, Jan is committed to democracy where people have the power to direct government. Her belief in true representation, unbound by party lines, led her to the Conservative Party of BC. Jan envisions a prosperous B.C. where government empowers the people.
Family and Personal Interests
Married to her husband Ron, Jan has one daughter and granddaughter. A meeting through the Victoria Operatic Society sparked her connection with Ron. Actively engaged as a Director of a non-profit society, Jan focuses on education, protecting freedoms, and uniting Canadians. An avid equestrian turned volunteer for the Victoria Therapeutic Riding Association, Jan passionately assists special needs clients in this valuable program.
Jan Webb's approach as an MLA emphasizes listening, engaging, and being solution-oriented for the benefit of Esquimalt-Colwood constituents.
