John Rustad Calls for Special Prosecutor to Investigate Development Company Linked to Brother of NDP Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon
“The Minister of Housing must not use his position to benefit his family’s business." —John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of BC & MLA for Nechako Lakes
VICTORIA, BC: Conservative Official Opposition Leader John Rustad is calling for the immediate appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate Minister of Housing Ravi Kahlon’s potential conflict of interest regarding his brother Sunny Kahlon's company, Kahlon Developments.
Reports indicate that a variance request from the company closely mirrored a letter sent by Minister Kahlon to Oak Bay Council, raising serious concerns about political interference.
“The Minister of Housing must not use his position to benefit his family’s business,” said Rustad. “British Columbians deserve full transparency and accountability. A special prosecutor is necessary to ensure the integrity of government decision-making.”
The timing of the appointment is urgent as Minister Kahlon has appointed a special advisor to Oak Bay, raising questions of whether Minister Kahlon is using his position to enrich his family.
The BC Conservatives are urging Premier David Eby and Attorney General Niki Sharma to act immediately and launch an independent review to restore public trust.
