Elenore Sturko Questions Minister Ravi Kahlon for Misleading the Public About His Potential Conflict of Interest with Renewal Development

“Ravi Kahlon isn’t being honest with the people of British Columbia. A conflict of interest isn’t ruled out just because he says so. The facts are clear, and British Columbians deserve accountability and transparency from their government.” - Elenore Sturko, Conservative Party of British Columbia Candidate for Surrey-Cloverdale

September 25th, Surrey, BC: Elenore Sturko, Conservative Party of British Columbia candidate for Surrey-Cloverdale, today criticized Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon for misleading the public about his sister’s lobbying firm’s ongoing relationship with Renewal Development. Despite Kahlon’s claims that the contract with Renewal Development was brief and handled by someone else, recent evidence shows otherwise. A post from just a week ago named Renewal Development as an active client of his sister’s firm, CORE, and a photo of her with the company’s CEO from September 12th further contradicts Kahlon’s statements.

“Ravi Kahlon’s dismissive response to what appears to be a conflict of interest is unacceptable,” said Sturko. “He claimed this issue was handled months ago and brushed it off as irrelevant, but the truth is his sister’s firm is still actively working with this developer. British Columbians expect more from their government, and they deserve to know what’s really going on.”

Sturko emphasized that this is not a minor oversight but a clear violation of the public’s trust. “This isn’t a minor technicality—it’s potentially a direct conflict of interest that Kahlon is trying to sweep under the rug. His dismissive attitude is an insult to the people of British Columbia who are facing a housing crisis while their Housing Minister is entangled in controversy.”

Kahlon’s assertion that this was a “non-issue” raises deeper concerns about transparency and ethical governance within the BC NDP. The public reposting of Renewal Development as a client just a week ago and the ongoing relationship between his sister’s firm and the company’s leadership cast serious doubt on Kahlon’s earlier claims.

“Ravi Kahlon must be held accountable for misleading the public,” Sturko continued. “This isn’t just a matter of miscommunication—it’s about the integrity of our public officials and the need for transparency in government. The people of British Columbia deserve the truth, and they deserve a government that serves them, not one that hides behind half-truths and misdirection.”

Sturko concluded by calling for Kahlon to clarify the true nature of his sister’s dealings with Renewal Development and to stop dismissing the issue. “Kahlon cannot simply dismiss this as a non-issue. The facts are clear, and the people of British Columbia deserve answers now.”
