August 23, 2024, Vancouver, BC — John Rustad, Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, is condemning Premier David Eby and the BC NDP for forcing jobs, investment, and economic opportunity out of British Columbia.

Rustad’s criticism comes on the heels of a damning poll released by BC Chamber of Commerce showing half of respondents believe BC is headed in the ‘wrong direction’, and fewer than four-in-ten believe BC is headed in the ‘right direction’.

“It’s increasingly clear to British Columbians that Eby’s radical, dysfunctional NDP is more concerned with announcing glamorous, progressive-sounding policies and grasping to get votes, than with making sure workers in BC have jobs and opportunities so they can put food on the table,” admonishes Rustad.

According to the research published today by the BC Chamber of Commerce, seventy percent of employers in BC believe that the cost of doing business is higher than in neighboring provinces.

“When employers can’t afford to stay in BC, they pack up shop and fire our British Columbian workers — those jobs go to other provinces or overseas. That means our people lose their jobs and our families and communities suffer,” says Rustad.

“We’ve got a radical NDP government that is spending more to get less, and driving jobs and opportunities out of our province. Everyday hardworking British Columbians are expected to just roll over and take it — dysfunctional healthcare, worse education, and fewer jobs that pay less,” says Rustad.

“This research by BC Chamber of Commerce is clear as day — the opportunities my generation took for granted are being robbed from our kids and grandkids by Eby’s radical, dysfunctional NDP. We need a government that will stop putting politics ahead of everyday, hardworking people,” concludes Rustad.
